Certified Tutor

After graduating in 2007 from Clark University with a business degree, I went straight into account management, and remained in various similar positions for seven years. Knowing that these jobs were not what my heart truly desired, I looked into pursuing my dream of working with children, and started graduate school at Lesley University in 2014. I completed my degree requirements in December 2015 and will have my Masters in Elementary Education (1-6) degree conferred in February 2016. I have my SEI endorsement and initial licenses in elementary education and mathematics (1-6).

Since September of 2014 I have been working as a kindergarten paraprofessional at the Carlton Innovation School in Salem, MA. I also provide substitute coverage when needed in classrooms throughout the school. My experiences as a para range from assisting the kindergarten teacher with classroom management to leading full class instruction if she is unavailable. I have also taken a role as an in home tutor for a student at the Carlton who has a medical condition which requires him to be hospitalized for three days each month. I have worked with him weekly since he was in the third grade, and he is now a fourth grade student. During my student teaching I led full class and small group lessons. I planned and taught a week long Lucy Calkins literacy unit and worked with a guided reading group. I proctored many assessments, including the Fountas and Pinnell benchmark assessment system, MCAS and ANet. I executed a week-long fifth grade mathematics unit and gained knowledge of the EnVision math curriculum. Through these experiences I have built strong personal relationships with my students, parents, and school staff.
