In the first session I would work very hard to make sure the student knows about me, and I learn about them, so we can be comfortable working with each other.

Students love when they can relate their school work to real life situations, social media, and the game world. I would utilize all of these mediums in order to keep my students interested and excited.

The best way to help a student with reading comprehension is to have them read, underline important things in the text, take notes in the margin, and have them discuss after every paragraph what occurred in that paragraph.

The most successful strategy is making a personal connection with the student, and letting them know you are there to help them with whatever struggles they are having.

By being excited about the subject matter and not making it boring for them to learn.
