What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is that no matter the disability or learning disadvantage, every student is capable of learning and achieving academic success.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a typical first session, I give each student a questionnaire to get to know them. I tell the student about myself as well. The first session is always a meet and greet. I like to establish a relationship with all of my students.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I can help a student become an independent learner by meeting them at their current level of learning. I will give each student strategies that will cater to their learning style.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I love to help keep students motivated about learning. Each student's learning style is different, and I motivate accordingly.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I work with that student on the level that they are on and build from there according to their learning style.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
I teach them how to highlight key points in a passage, make predictions, and visualize as they read. Each student is different, so I will differentiate accordingly.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
I would help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in by understanding what they like and incorporating that into the lesson.
