Certified Tutor

I teach because students afford me hope for the future of society. As an educator, I have taught and tutored in diverse environments for over three years. My teaching philosophy strives to help students accomplish their goals, but not just the immediate, easily quantifiable goals, like earning a certain grade on a paper. Rather, in accomplishing these immediate goals, I also aim to help students better themselves as people, to think about the world differently, so that, regardless of what they might face in their future, they will be in a position to succeed.

At Syracuse University, I majored in philosophy and English and graduated summa cum laude. I was president of an organization that taught weekly spoken word poetry workshops, which improved students writing and public speaking abilities, and I also tutored ESL students at a high school. Pedagogically, I incorporate my experiences as a student into my teaching curriculum, ensuring my students know why they are doing a certain task rather than merely what they are doing.

You are not only finding an experienced tutor who loves his work, but also one accomplished in his subjects. I am a fiction writer who has been published in national magazines. As a student, the dean of my college selected me to give the senior address at convocation. Moreover, I received a scholarship at Syracuse University awarded for my performance in the humanities.
