Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Central Connecticut State University and University of New Haven. I graduated from University of New Haven with a Master's in Education, Secondary English Grades 7-12. I taught English for several years in the public school setting then worked in a juvenile training facility teaching English to at risk youth. I left teaching to raise my children during the past few years and have enjoyed tutoring on the side. I have worked with very diverse groups of students, abilities, and ages. No matter what the circumstances, though, I am able to develop a rapport with the student, which allows them to feel comfortable working with me as their tutor.
I tutor a wide variety of subjects, but enjoy tutoring English writing and grammar the most. I love to read, so I want my students to feel as passionate about reading as I do. I also have a background in languages, which allows me to tutor foreign languages. I have traveled many places and been around many cultures so I feel this has made me a stronger teacher. I like to push my students while tutoring, but I like to make sure my student feels comfortable and are not afraid to ask questions if they are unsure of something. It is normal for children to struggle and often times they are not comfortable asking for help.
In my spare time I love to travel, read, and hang out with my children. I love to see new places and experience new things.
