I am a graduate of the University of Central Florida where I earned my Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mathematics Education. My tutoring experience is extensive spanning over 25 years and including subjects ranging from Middle School Mathematics through Calculus. In addition, I have been a High School Mathematics teacher for 14 years and am currently the Mathematics Department Chair at my school. Courses I have taught include General Mathematics, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Analytic Geometry, Integrated Mathematics, AP Calculus AB, IB Mathematics SL, and IB Mathematics HL. As such, I'm approved to tutor Algebra I, Algebra II, Algebra 3/4, AP Calculus AB, Calculus I, Geometry, IB Mathematical Studies SL, IB Mathematics SL, Middle School Math, Pre-Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Trigonometry. My teaching awards include being named Teacher of the Year and being featured as an Outstanding Educator by a lifestyle magazine with a circulation of a large regional area that includes multiple counties in my home state.
I have a deep love of mathematics and thoroughly enjoy tutoring all topics. It is a wonderful feeling when I am able to help someone understand something they previously regarded as complex or even unattainable. I do this by first discovering what it is my student does not understand so together we can build a lasting conceptual understanding.
Outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with my family, biking, reading, and am an avid sports fan.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I make sure my students understand from the conceptual level so they are able to keep the knowledge with them. I do not teach for memorization. I teach for understanding. I find out where the student understanding begins and I build from there.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I will find out their level of understanding, their goals, their learning style, and then continue based on my findings.
