"Everybody is a genius. But, if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." Albert Einstein
I graduated from Sarah Lawrence College in New York and received a BA. Sarah Lawrence offered a unique experience as it did not place students in boxes or categories. I was free to take classes in a variety of subjects. I was also encouraged to submit assignments in creative ways.
My experience at Sarah Lawrence greatly influenced my classroom leadership, management, and instructional style. As a classroom teacher, I often encouraged my students to explore the topic beyond simple recall. Students were engaged from bell to bell in Math, Reading, Science, and Social Studies. It is important to present information in the best way that students learn. Every learner has different modes of learning and has a propensity to certain multiple intelligences. It is the responsibility of the educator to expose the learner to as many modes and MIs as possible to guide the student towards mastery of content. My students enjoyed a variety of activities and were not subjected to boring lectures.
Apart from being a highly effective educator, I also enjoy a plethora of interests and hobbies. I enjoy getting lost in a good book. Once I have a great book in my hand, it is hard to put it down. I cultivated a love for writing at a very young age. I write poems, plays, and I am currently writing a memoir. There is nothing like getting enraptured in the world of theater. A great performance can make me cry, laugh, love, and self-reflect. My ultimate passion is travel. I have crossed the Atlantic and the border; however, there are not enough stamps in my passport. I definitely believe that my passion for life influences my teaching/tutoring style. I am looking forward to working with you soon.
