I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Washington State University's distance learning program. Here I obtained a B.A. in social sciences, focussing on human development, psychology, and special education. Attending a distance learning program allowed me to continue to obtain experience in the classroom while working on my degree. I have spent four years in a special education classroom, teaching reading, writing, math, and social skills. I also got to enjoy teaching ELL classes in the morning and highly capable test prep after school. I am currently pursuing a masters degree in occupational therapy at the University of Washington's school of medicine. It was not too long ago that I was studying for my GRE and writing admissions essays. I look forward to helping students accomplish their educational goals, whether those include test prep, college admissions essays, or grade level reading and math. I enjoy being a student as much as I enjoy being a teacher. I believe that learning should be fun. When I'm not studying or teaching I can be found outside in this great Northwest, hiking, running, or exploring. I also enjoy quite time in my home where I live with my dog and my pet rabbits. I enjoy reading, fixing up the house, gardening, and playing music on my guitars, piano, and saxophone.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Learning should be fun and always can be!
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a first session I want to establish what the student needs or wants to know, their current level of knowledge, and their expectations for tutoring sessions.
