As the first member of my family to earn a college degree, I have a profound appreciation for the positive impact that a quality education can have on a person’s career opportunities and life. By tutoring, I hope to afford my students the same opportunities for success in their own education.
I am currently pursuing my PhD in Environmental Engineering at Northwestern University and also hold both my Masters and Bachelors of Science degrees in Biology from Howard University. I’m particularly passionate about teaching the Science disciplines such as Biology and Chemistry, but I also enjoy tutoring Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Inorganic Chemistry and Microbiology.
As a Science Instructor for inner city high school students in Washington D.C., I've taught Chemistry, Biology and Physics. While at Northwestern University, I’ve also served as a Teaching Assistant for Environmental Chemistry laboratory courses. The combination of these experiences has helped shape my teaching philosophy, that focus should be put on challenging a student’s analytical and problem solving skills. I believe that it is important to guide students through their own learning and discovery process so that they can build confidence and excel in any subject where they apply these skills. Nurturing this confidence is fundamental to success in high school, college and careers beyond the classroom.
In my spare time, I enjoy running, watching European league soccer tournaments, listening to live music, reading autobiographical books and most importantly family barbecues.
