Certified Tutor

I graduated from the University of Puget Sound with a BA in International Political Economy and an interdisciplinary emphasis in Asian Studies. During college, I worked as an academic peer advisor, helping first-year students with academic planning. Since college, in addition to tutoring ESL, GED, and middle-school Math and Reading, I have worked as a college-prep writing instructor in a prison. I've also lived in Asia for three of the last five years, teaching and studying in mostly India and Southeast Asia. My tutoring/teaching style combines a big-picture, compassionate approach with detail-oriented and focused efficiency. In other words, I motivate my students by helping them apply their lessons to more than just school, while still focusing on the necessary outcomes of improved scores! I most enjoy helping students with their writing skills, basic-intermediate math skills, college planning, and study/organization skills. In my free time, I can be found doing acrobatic yoga, cooking tasty vegetarian food, or biking up and down the hills of Seattle!
