I hold degrees from the University of Southern California, New York University and Northwestern University (Go Cats!). I have two M.A.'s in Social Work and in Education. I am looking to begin a PhD program in Education within the next three years. I spent 8 years as a classroom teacher throughout Chicago, Kentucky, Indiana, Maryland, New York, Colorado, and Florida. I have experience teaching English, Social Studies/U.S. History, Music, Dance, and Drama. I loved my experiences tutoring reading privately as well as working in the Writing Center one on one with students at Stuyvesant High School, the leading public high school in the state of New York. While I tutor a number of subjects, I am most passionate about tutoring Writing and U.S. History. I believe Writing and History are both examples of secret storytelling in the midst of every day experiences. I find it incredibly exciting to aid my students in finding the fun! My teaching philosophy is all about making learning fun, and increasing equity. I give students the freedom to express themselves. I believe in provoking curiosity and finding connections between their interests and the subjects they study in school. Above all, I encourage critical thinking and questioning. When I'm not teaching or tutoring, I enjoy all kinds of physical activities, including running, rock climbing, and lifting weights. I enjoy being outdoors, especially when I'm with my dog. I have a passion for movies of all kinds, but especially when those movies involve explosions and car chases!
