Tutoring review by John in Tuckahoe, NY
We reviewed for the student's upcoming test. The test covered the circle and its theorems. There were three main components to the test. The first component covered four theorems concerning angles inside and outside the circle made by chords, secants, and tangents. These angle measures could be determined by analyzing the circle's arcs that were inscribed by the chords, secants, and tangents. The second component would cover three theorems regarding line segments created by intersecting chords, secants, and tangents inside and outside the circle. The last component concerned representing circles within the Cartesian coordinate system. She was already comfortable with most of the information, so we spent most of the time doing practice problems or finding aspects of the information that she felt uncertain on. These topics mainly involved word problems where setting up the problem was a bit difficult. I highlighted telltale signs of certain problems to build her confidence. Once the problems were set up, she had no difficulties completing the problems. She should do very well on this test.

Tutoring review by Bert in Tuckahoe, NY
The student and I reviewed problems involving circular permutations, special functions, arithmetic sequences, and tables and graphs. She didn't seem to have any issues with these topics, either when solving as isolated problems or when done mixed with other problem types as encountered on a standard section of the SAT. I had her then practice on difficulty 5 problems from the study guide and the only single major issue that she has had with these problems was the misreading of the original problem (e.g. "consecutive integer" vs "consecutive even integer"). Otherwise, she was able to successfully solve all of the practice questions. For homework, I've assigned her additional problems to do based on the topics covered today as well as issued her problems to complete in the practice SAT book.

Tutoring review by Tam in Tuckahoe, NY
We discussed solving equations and inequalities involving exponents and logarithms, solving high-order equations using factoring and substitution, graphing functions and analyzing the graphs. We broke down the problems step by step and highlighted the key steps or the steps which students made most mistake on. She was thorough with solving logarithmic equations. She was not familiar with operations on exponents and factoring quadratics so we did several practices as illustration.

Tutoring review by Katherine in Tuckahoe, NY
We reviewed a homework set of problems covering the rules of exponents. The student definitely showed increasing proficiency throughout the lesson, and he said he felt good about the material when we were finished. He worked most of the problems independently with only a few corrections here and there.

Tutoring review by Cindy in Tuckahoe, NY
We reviewed the student's assignment on using proportions with scale drawings. She used the scale to determine either a distance on a drawing or the actual measurements. Then, we moved on to using similarity statements, and she was able to use the properties to determine perimeters and areas of polygons. Afterwards, we went to the online book to try the practice quiz questions. She seemed quite comfortable with the questions by the time we went to the online quiz questions.
