What can Madison SAT prep cover?

There are three main sections in the SAT; Math, Writing and Language, and Reading. You will have about three hours of testing time to complete these three sections of the examination. However, each section has a different time limit, and you will not have the ability to use the time as you wish. Because of this, it is essential to be aware of the format of the test as well as the content which the test covers if you are to manage your time effectively. Working with professional SAT instructors can help with this.

In the Math section of the SAT, you will have 80 minutes to complete 58 questions which will assess your algebraic skills and ability to comprehend and solve mathematical expressions. Within this section, there are two distinct subdivisions. In one part of the Math section, you will not be allowed the use of a calculator. For this part, you will have to answer 15 multiple choice questions in only 25 minutes. In the other part of the Math section, you will be allowed to use a calculator. For this section, you will have to answer 30 multiple choice questions in 55 minutes. As you are preparing for the SAT, be sure you learn to use the type of calculator which is allowed during the exam. You can earn a score of between 200 and 800 on this section of the SAT.

During the Writing and Language section of the SAT, you will have 35 minutes to answer 44 questions which will assess a variety of English language skills, including grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and understanding words within context. For the Reading section of the SAT, you will have 65 minutes to answer 52 multiple choice questions which will assess various reading comprehension skills. These two sections are combined during the scoring process. Together you can earn a score of between 200 and 800.

You also have the option of adding a fourth section to your exam. The SAT Essay evaluates your writing skills as well as your ability to understand and present an argument with sufficient supporting evidence. You will have 50 minutes to complete a single essay.

What are some of the benefits of taking a Madison SAT prep class?

When you take an SAT class you know you will have the opportunity to review all of the topics covered on the exam. This type of comprehensive review is invaluable, especially if you aren't clear on what you may face on test day. Simply having the opportunity to go through the concepts and clarify critical skills can be a game changer.

SAT classes are held in a secure online classroom setting that operates in much the same way as the classrooms with which you are already familiar. Working in an educational environment with which you are comfortable can make it easier to remain focused and on task. Your teacher will deliver academic instruction to the whole class and may then assign individual assignments, group discussions, or even group projects to help deepen your understanding of the topic. If you have any questions about the work you are doing, you can always ask for assistance.

New sections start each week, which makes it easy to get started with your SAT preparation quickly. You can choose a two or four-week class, depending on your personal preferences, the time you have to commit to preparing for the SAT, and how much you wish to review before test day.

How is working with a Madison SAT tutor different from taking a course?

Working with a personal tutor gives you a higher degree of personalized instruction than is possible in a Madison SAT prep course. In a course, the instructor must divide their time amongst all of the students to answer questions and still deliver a high-quality academic lesson. When you work with an instructor privately, however, their only focus is you and your SAT preparation needs. Your instructor can take the time to learn more about your learning style and the areas you may find more challenging in the SAT. With this information, they can develop a program of study that addresses your learning needs most efficiently.

Private tutoring also gives you greater flexibility in defining your schedule. When you take part in a course, you must ensure you can complete other obligations in time to attend the course. This may mean putting other school activities, extracurricular commitments, or even work on hold. If changing your schedule is not feasible for your situation, working with a private instructor can allow you to prioritize your SAT preparation while still upholding your other obligations. You can schedule your sessions at various times throughout the day and evening during the week or on weekends. With so much scheduling freedom, you really can find the time to do it all.
