I worked for 3 years delivering the Prince's Trust Team Programme to young adults, where I helped them build their confidence and get them into work. I would do this through a mixture of written work and practical experiences, such as; helping elderly or disabled community groups, building community gardens, running events and parties, and helping find work experience.
Prior to this I worked for 3 years as an English as a second language teacher in Bilbao, teaching exams classes for B2 to C2 levels. I worked mainly with teenagers and adults, although I do have some experience working with younger children.
I studied history at the University of Kent and have a keen interest in the subject. I believe in life long learning and continue to study and learn skills.
My level of Spanish speaking comes from my time spent in Hispanophone countries, specifically the time I spent living and working in the Basque Country, Spain, and travelling through South America.
I've also done a good amount of social work, I'm most proud of helping run albergues (refuges) for Venezuelan refugees in Colombia and setting up two youth clubs for local kids in Gateshead.
In Columbia I and my colleagues worked to teach refugee children and help prepare them to enter mainstream schooling. This meant preparing and delivering lessons for various ability levels on various topics in Spanish.
My main experience comes from teaching, I am a good public speaker and well organised in terms of planning and preparing or completing administrative tasks. I have also held many roles outside of teaching including; office work, construction and hospitality.

As mentioned in my personal statement I am very interested in history and I love to understand the stories and backgrounds of people, places and culture. I like to combine this with my love of travel and I have worked hard to see and experience some of the places of major historical and cultural significance around the world. I enjoy volunteering and taking part in community events. I have done work for a number of charities around the world. I am a huge fan of live music and play the drums and guitar myself, although not quite well enough to play in bands anymore. I often attend concerts and festivals. This year I began working at festivals which has been a great experience I would recommend to anyone. And finally I am interested in sports, but sadly not so good at playing them. At university I played football, inline and ice hockey. Today I only casually play football, I’m a huge fan of Newcastle United.
