Certified Tutor

I am a recent graduate of Stanford University, where I majored in linguistics and took an eclectic mix of coursework in anthropology, Chinese, and computer science. My love of teaching began in middle school, where I worked with a sixth grader on math, and continued up through college, where I volunteered at an after school tutoring program for kids in an underserved community. A language nerd, my favorite subjects to tutor are French and English writing skills, but I am equally confident in SAT and ACT test prep and math, science, history, and other subjects at the high school level. Beyond just helping improve students standardized test scores, I strive to inspire students to be confident, lifelong learners by getting to know what drives them individually and connecting this to their broader professional plans. The most rewarding aspect of tutoring for me is seeing my tutees understand something for the first time, and as a future teacher, I look forward to facilitating these learning moments. Apart from school, I love playing the flute, reading the opinions sections of newspapers, and exploring New York City.
