When you start down the path of preparing for the GMAT, it can be daunting to go alone. Working through an Austin GMAT class with 51Թ can offer the guidance you need to prepare for the GMAT. The GMAT is utilized by a lot of business schools as a portion of their admissions process. As such, performing well on the test may give you a leg up when it comes to getting into the business school of you've been dreaming about. Whether you are considering applying to the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas or the Baylor University Hankamer School of Business, working with an Austin GMAT course may boost your chances.
The GMAT is made up of four distinct sections, which cover many different subject areas. It is typical for students to be adept in some areas while not as adept in others. As such, it may be useful to work with an Austin GMAT class to work on trying to boost your score in the areas you may not be as skilled in. Each of the sections on the GMAT are designed to measure skills that are considered useful in business school. As such, your performance on each section is used by the admissions board to determine whether you seem like a good fit for their program.
What could an Austin GMAT class help me review?
When it comes to reviewing for the GMAT, it can be somewhat intimidating because the test covers a lot of different material. The GMAT consists of four sections, including Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and an Analytical Writing Assessment.
The Integrated Reasoning section of the GMAT has 12 questions and you have 30 minutes to finish it. It is graded between 1 and 8 points and is used to measure your ability to synthesize information, compare data, and organize data. You will also be required to take information from a variety of different sources and use that information to solve problems. Many of the skills that are being tested in this section are a necessity when it comes to your classes in business school.
The Quantitative Reasoning section includes 31 multiple choice questions and you have 62 minutes to finish it. This section is graded between 0 and 60 points and measures your ability to problem solve quantitatively, reason mathematically, and interpret graphic data. This section includes questions about both data sufficiency and problem-solving. The questions regarding data sufficiency look at your skills when it comes to being able to sift through relevant data and analyze problems. The questions concerning problem-solving look at your skills in analytical reasoning and your ability to use logic.
The Verbal Reasoning Section of the GMAT contains 36 multiple choice questions and you have 65 minutes to finish it. This section is graded between 0 and 60 points and involves measuring your reading comprehension and critical reasoning skills. The reading comprehension portion of this section requires you to read through passages and answer questions about it. This portion is measuring your ability to comprehend and interpret the information you read. The critical reasoning portion of this section involves looking at your ability to design arguments regarding the information you read.
The Analytical Writing Assessment section has 1 question and you have 30 minutes to finish it. This section consists of writing an essay and it is graded between 0 and 6 points. This section measures your critical thinking skills and your ability to communicate effectively in written English. It also looks at your ability to develop a plan and execute that plan in a relatively short period of time.
How does an Austin GMAT course help me prepare?
An Austin GMAT course can help you prepare for the GMAT in a variety of ways. One of the most vital aspects of preparing for the test involves going over the material that is likely going to be on the exam. However, simply going over the material may not be enough. Many of the topics on the GMAT may concern information that you never learned or material that you haven't worked with in an extended period of time. As such, you may need assistance when it comes to being able to fully comprehend these topics.
Working with an instructor in an Austin GMAT class can help in this regard. You can work with an instructor who is available to spend time going over the material while answering any questions you might have about the material. The class takes place in an online setting and you will be working with an instructor and other students. While the instructor is there to help you review material, working with other students can be helpful in terms of going over study strategies that they've found to be useful.
The fact that the class takes place online can help in terms of finding a class that fits in with your schedule. Whether you are a student who is trying to find time to add a GMAT class to their already full class schedule or a working professional who is trying to find time to study around their work schedule, 51Թ can help you find a class time that works for you.
While going over material that may be on the exam makes up a large portion of preparing for the GMAT, it can also be useful to go over test-taking strategies, such as time management. The GMAT requires that you complete each section in a specific amount of time. As such, it is important to get the timing of the test down so that you have a chance to answer every question to the best of your ability. Working through practice tests can give you an idea as to how much time you can spend on each question and whether you need to speed up your pace.

I graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC in 2008, the oldest English speaking acting conservatory in the world. I graduated Summa from University of St Thomas with a BA in English, and just wrapped up a MS in Data Science from Northwestern. I'm a huge Red Sox fan and love watching detective shows when I have free time.... Positivity. Always. I believe that if a student is given positive tools and is allowed to understand the material rather than be lectured at, they're more likely to do well in the future.

The truth is, everyone can do well on the LSAT because the test is not what's necessarily hard...it's learning how the test writers want you to think that is hard. I'll teach you how they want you to think and give you tips on how to answer questions as quickly as possible.

I assume responsibility that my student is learning and that my student is learning at higher and higher levels, in accordance with Bloom's Taxonomy. Knowledge, Comprehension, Application, Evaluation, Synthesis, Analysis are higher levels of learning that give the student tools to apply lessons into maturity. I have been very successful in tutoring ACT, SAT, ISEE, and GRE.... The Socratic method, asking open-ended questions, is an excellent strategy to get a student to talk. When the tutor can speak less and encourage the tutee to speak more, the tutor can identify the student's level of understanding.
